Among the requirements to become a registered dietician is a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Such a post secondary educator must teach a curriculum that is approved and required by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association. This alone does not complete the necessary requirements that one needs to meet to become a dietitian. In order to fulfill all the requirements to become a registered dietician a student must complete a 6 month to a yearlong internship. This internship has to be completed at a healthcare facility, community facility or agency. Such an internship can also be completed at a food service agency as well. The internship has to be performed along with the relative courses the student is studying in order to ensure that they understand the practical application of the knowledge they gain in their subjects.

One has to pass the nationally administered examination held by the Commission on Dietetic Registration which is administered by the American Dietetic Association the accreditation body for dietetics as this is one of the key requirements to become a registered dietitian.  Individuals have to make sure and keep up to date with all the latest information regarding innovations in nutrient and dietetics that have been discovered after they have become registered dieticians.

Specializations as registered dieticians provide treatment for ailments as pediatrics, diabetes, obesity and old age.
